I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.
Which one of these children is more precious to Jesus? I am sure you know the answer is that they are all equally important to Jesus. When my last daughter was only about 2 years old, while holding her in my arms, I quickly ran through the kitchen on my way out the door, to check that I had turned off the stove , coffee maker and electric kettle. I would audibly affirm I had turned all these off by saying, “off, off , off” as I checked them. One day I was about to go through the same routine, but before I could say anything, my two year old daughter pointed to the appliances as she said, “off, off, off” just as she had heard me say and seen me do over and over again. Yes, I believe we as parents are the most impressionable influences in lives of our children and they emulate us both in thought and in action . One day our kids will infiltrate our society many of them to places of influence. I believe their core values which will ultimately be reflected in the decisions they make, are the values we helped to program into them for all the years they were under our influence. Let us be the examples that will inspire the next generation to honor GOD and people. Let us teach them not to think lesser of another person based only on the superficial coloring of one’s skin or social status.
