Luke 7:12-15 (NIV)
As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
As I read this portion of scripture, I felt Jesus’s love for me in an even greater measure. I do not think that I could ever fully comprehend how great this love is . For a moment imagine that you were there while these events were taking place. This mother was probably sobbing uncontrollably, this was her one and only son. I cannot even imagine the extent of her sorrow. As far as is recorded , this woman did not approach Jesus for help, her son was already dead there was nothing again she could do. Jesus’s heart went out to her with love and compassion. Jesus put His agenda for visiting this town on hold to comfort this widow. Could you hear His tender voice saying to her ”don’t cry”. I believe that just those words from Jesus brought peace to her troubled heart. She probably did not know who He was and what he could do for her. Jesus did not just speak words of comfort, He put His love into action, and brought her son back to life . Wow!! just one moment with The King of Kings and her whole world changed, maybe she never saw Jesus after that. Just think, since we always have Jesus with us, our lives should be a continual celebration. We should expect that inevitably all things will work out together for our good, no matter how impossible our situation may appear “in the natural”. The bible says “We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19), could it be then, if we have more revelation of our Heavenly Father’s love for us, we will love Him and those around us more ? Is it not easier to trust someone whom you knew truly loves you. How sad though,we often think of God as someone who is always ready to judge us, but this is not the truth, it is only the lie satan wants us to believe .When our Father God (Daddy to His children) had every right to judge us , rather than doing that, He sent His one and only Son, in whom He is well pleased to die for us. Jesus who never sinned, was made the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus said ”If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him [through me] and have seen him [in me]”. If you are in a situation that makes you sad and it seems there is no hope, I want you see Your Heavenly Father’s heart moved with compassion towards you. Hear Him saying to you“do not cry” and “do not be afraid”. “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. “Do not worry about tomorrow, I will take care of you” . Make it your priority to think on how much your Heavenly Father loves you and since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t He also give us everything else? (Romans 8:32).
